Dr Abi Tenen

Dr Abi Tenen specialises in laser vision correction and modern cataract surgery. She is one of the few ophthalmic surgeons using Implantable Contact Lenses and offers new treatments for keratoconus, including Collagen Cross-Linking with Riboflavin and Kerarings

Dr Tenen completed her medical degree at The University of New South Wales in 1996 and has worked in a number of NSW and Victorian hospitals including The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital where she has held a Senior Staff Specialist appointment. She completed fellowship training in refractive surgery and was the first Australian female surgeon to qualify in the use of Intralase technology


She has been involved in research exploring new models of intra-ocular lenses and has presented her results at conferences of The Australian Society of Refractive Surgeons, European and American meeting. She holds a Senior Lecturer position with the Monash University Faculty of Medicine and has lectured widely to medical students, Ophthalmology Registrars, Optometrists, General Practitioners and Emergency Medicine Physicians

Dr Tenen is in private practice at the Vision Eye Institutes Blackburn South, Camberwell and Coburg, as well as Vision Laser St Kilda Rd and Vision Cataract Institute.
As a cataract surgeon, Dr Tenen has volunteered with the US based aid organisation SEE International in areas of need.
