Dr Peter Heiner

Dr Peter Heiner is a pioneer in micro-incision cataract surgeon. He provides services in the areas of cataract surgery and refractive laser surgery. Dr Heiner was born in Brisbane and attended medical school at the University of Queensland.  He did his Residency and Ophthalmology Specialty Training in the Brisbane Metropolitan Hospitals. 

He was one of the earliest Doctors in Australia to perform laser refractive surgery and pioneered micro-incision cataract surgery.

Dr Heiner has the following appointments as a founding partner of The Eye Centre, founding partner of the Excimer Laser Centre, Fellowship of the RANZCO, Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons, Founding member of the Australasian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons,  Associate Professor and Trustee of Bond University Medical School, Member of AMA (Australian Medical Association), International Member of ASCRS (American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons), International Member of AAO (American Academy of Ophthalmologists).

Dr Heiner was the first doctor in Australia to perform CMICS coaxial micro-incision cataract surgery.  He has lectured throughout Australia and Asia on micro-incision cataract surgery.

Dr Heiner has a monthly talkback radio show on 4CRB Community Radio on Eye Diseases.  He has done this since 2001.   Dr Heiner has an interest in mountain bike riding, surfing, and snow skiing.

Dr Heiner provides his specialist services at Vision Eye Institute, Southport and Coolangatta.
